Apologies!

Sorry about such a long wait, after all my nails chipping and breaking constantly, I didn't have the energy to paint the small stubs that remained, but since they have been growing nicely and are now a semi decent length I have resumed painting, and therefore do a nice long post to make up for it.

As you all will probably know, Models Own released a new collection called 'HyperGel', ten bright colours that all leave a lovely high shine and smooth finish and to promote the new release and reaching 250k followers on Facebook, Models Own had a 50% off sale on there website! All there lovely polishes at half price, who could resist! Temptation was too much and I just had to place an order. 'Red Lustre', 'Cerise Shine', 'Pink Veneer', 'Coral Glaze', 'Naked Glow', 'White Light', 'Lilac Sheen', 'Cornflower Gleam', 'Blue Glint' and 'Turquoise Gloss', the whole HyperGel collection fell into my basket along with four of the five Velvet Goth, four scented pastels, five neons, Hedkandi 'Hedonist', and a 'Coral Reef, and the express dry to top it all off. I couldn't wait for my order to arrive! It's safe to say that Models Own have a fab range of colours and collections and are fast becoming my favourite brand.

And to top that off, Models Own held a competition, the first 30 to email them with what we love about Valentines Day would get to join them in their bottleshop in White City for 'manicures, nail art, goodie bags, refreshments, fun and games!' and never believing that I'd win, I thought I'd email them for the hell of it. Much to my surprise I got an email back saying they were looking forward to seeing me!!

So the next evening, a friend and I hopped on the train into London for a night of pampering, Models Own style! Upon arriving we were given fizzy drinks in plastic champagne glasses, told to help ourselves to sweets and to pick any colours we wanted for a manicure and then get some funky nail art done by their very own Head Trend and Nail Expert Heather Cahill!!

I picked the new 'Coral Glaze' from the HyperGel collection and was whisked away for a manicure!  I had a lovely leopard print added as an accent to both hands!

And with all the deals on, I couldn't resist adding to my collection :D 'Top Turquoise', 'Buff Pink', 'Snow White' and the gorgeous 'Southern Lights', a smoky eye kit and pink lip gloss went into my basket with 'Matt Top Coat' and '5 in 1, Top and Base Coat' and for £25 for the lot, I couldn't resist! They were popped into my goodie bag and away we went! It was only till we got outside that we had to rummage through our bags, a compact mirror, glittery eyeliner and nail buffer were hidden amongst the pink tissue paper.

Barbie Pink!

Just a quick post to show you my pink toes!!

Used my gels today and gave myself a pedicure and decided on a lovely pink, and thought I'd share it with you.

Does anyone have any brand preference when it comes to UV Gels?

Merry (Very Belated) Christmas!

Okay so I'm a bit behind with the Christmas wishes but I had good reasons!

So the awesome present I mentioned a while back turned out to be a SensatioNail Kit with two colours which has made me the happiest person ever! Plus a £3 off voucher inside, which was spent the next day. I've already done my mums and mine with the kit and loved the results. I also purchased a tips kit in Tesco and did two sets of tips, a clear on my mum and a french on my brothers girlfriend.

The kit is very easy to use and instructions are simple to follow and the results are always good. Although the price of the single colours is rather high at £15.00, I have looked elsewhere and found some cheaper ones off eBay which I'll review later on.

Much awaited Day 5!

Day 5, Sculptured Acrylic and Gel.

On Friday we learnt how to sculpt with acrylic and gel, a nice way to extend the nail without a tip. The actual sculpting was rather hard, learning how to get the right shape and look of the nail. It is a fun thing to learn though and easier to file down and shape than proper tips. I will post pictures of the weeks works in the next couple a days.

Day 3 and Day 4!

Acrylic Nail Extensions and Nail Art

Day 3 we learnt about Acrylic nail extensions, and how they are applied. After lunch we then learnt UV acrylic, which are a lot easier and nicer looking than acrylic but harder to remove. Both types require tips to be placed on, filed, blended and buffed, with acrylic you use the powder and apply to the nail and shape it to as much of a natural nail as possible, whereas the gel goes on like a polish and you can shape by holding the finger upside down and letting gravity take its course. The acrylic needs to be soaked off, but the gel needs to first be filed and then soaked.

Day 4 was all about nail art, a fun and relaxing day messing around with acrylic and gels, glitter and rhinestones, shapes and flowers. Making as many patterns as we could imagine, in all colours and styles. A much needed break from concentrating on extensions.

Tomorrow is going to be a hard day, Advanced nail techniques sculpting with Acrylic and Gel! So good luck to me! But after will be a nice relaxing time in Winter Wonderland with my mum!! I've never been before so cannot wait!

Day 2: UV Gel & Fiberglass Nail Extensions!

Hey!!

After a delayed journey to and from London, I'm feeling rather tired so this will only be brief. Today we learnt tip extensions, a slightly tricky thing to do but has great end results. I prefer a Gel extension to a Fiberglass extension as they look more more shiny and natural but both are simple to do once you've mastered the technique. The applying of the tip was the bit I found the hardest, getting the right angle to apply, not getting any bubbles under the nail and blending the seam to create a natural look.

Tomorrow is all about Acrylic Nail Extensions so bye for now!!

Day 1: Manicure and Pedicure!

Good Evening!

Today was the first day of my course in London at the Nails and Beauty Academy, and it was all about the basic manicure and pedicure, a must know for any nail fanatic. A booklet was provided with a run through of tools, products and a step-by-step guide on how to carry the treatment out. We each took turns practising on one another, doing a french manicure on one hand and a colour on the other and I must admit it was a bit confusing, remembering what to do with each hand and what cream does what but it was rather fun. Tomorrow is all about UV Gel & Fibreglass Nail Extensions which I'm rather looking forward to learning.

I've also been told that I'm getting an amazing nail related present at Christmas and so am very excited to see what it is but I don't want to wait any longer!

I'll post another update of the course tomorrow.
